Biography of Olga Nazarkina
Olga Nazarkina was born in 1981 in Kharkov, Ukraine. In 1999, at the young age of 12, she was admitted to the Kharkov Art School where she studied for four years. One of Olga’s accomplishments during this time was her participation in 2001 in the Charity Auction led by Michael Gorbachev to benefit the victims of 9/11. For three consecutive years, Olga received theFond of Rising Talented Youthscholarship, in Kharkov. During this time, she won First Prize in the young artists’ contest.
From January 2004 to May 2006, Olga studied art at Darton College (GA) after which she completed four more years of art study at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Atlanta campus.The years spent studying art have provided Olga with invaluable knowledge and experience in her field.
Olga has exhibited charcoal and gouache drawings as well as canvases and tapestries. A solo exhibition of her work was exhibited in the Albany Art Museum, GA and she has held numerous exhibitions in various cities from Kiev to New York City.
Her experience as an artist includes several exhibitions in Ukraine, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Paris, and Barcelona as well as in the United States, particularly in the cities of New York, Philadelphia, Jersey City and Manchester, and the States of Georgia and Florida. Her works have been exhibited in Moscow and Barcelona alongside the works of widely known avant-garde artists such as Malevich, Tatlin, Popova and others.
In 2003 one of her works was bought by a famous collector, the Director of Rutgers University Zimmerli Art Museum. His collection consists of about 12,000 works by non-conformist artists.
In 2004 Olga won first prize in the Spring into Art Exhibition in Valdosta, GA.During the past 5 years Olga Nazarkina has participated in numerous exhibitions in the company of such renowned Russian artists as Ilya Kabakov, Erik Bulatov, Komar and Melamid, Oleg Scelkov and many others.
