Transitions – Information regarding this show

Transitions is one of those words that can mean a thousand different things, and that’s exactly what excites us at the Library Arts Committee. We want artists in all mediums to interpret that word however they want, and to produce art that embodies their version of the meaning.

Transitions, with its myriad of meanings is scheduled to run from March 2 to April 17, 2026. Set up for this show will take place on the morning of Saturday, February 28, 2026. Artists have from now until mid-February to search their archives or create a new piece that speaks to Transitions.

Who may exhibit their art? All artists amateur and professional. Pieces must be framed and ready to hang from chains on an s-hook.

Can I submit anything that I feel meets the theme of Transitions? The space is shared by the public, including children. The library has the right to reject pieces they feel may be inappropriate for public viewing.

How many pieces of art can be submitted? At the moment we will be accepting 1 piece of work. This may be changed depending on how many people show an interest in participating.

What happens if I sell a piece of art? The LAC levies a commission of 15% of sales. There will be a binder in the room for buyers to fill in if they are interested in a piece.

What if I don’t want to sell my art? No problem. We will put NFS on the label to indicate the piece is Not For Sale.

Is there insurance if something happens to my art? The LAC and the Deep River Library do not carry insurance and cannot accept responsibility for items lost, stolen or damaged. The space is under recorded video surveillance. For artwork worth more that $1000 we ask you to obtain private insurance. The Deep River Gallery is unsupervised and open during library hours. There may be times that the public cannot view the works as there are activities taking place in the room.

Who do I contact if I’m interested in participating? You can contact Elaine, Chair of the Library Arts Committee, at info@drlac.ca. Elaine will provide you with a form for you to fill out. Contact her if you have any questions about this exhibition and she will try to get back to you in a timely manner.
